Rain

You know they say that it rains in Ireland quite lot. Since I have been here for the last few months, yes it has rained some but not as much as I thought it would.  So far the weather has been like a Finnish autumn without the grayness as the grass seem to be green here all year around. Rain can make things look miserable, but it can also make things beautiful.  Raindrops in the flowers, raindrops on the spider web….
She opens her eyes like every other morning. With a misty gaze she walks over to the window and moves the curtains aside with a gentle touch. Rays of sunlight dance through a timid rain and greet her face with a sweet tickle. Everything is serene and beautiful. It's so close but yet so far away.. This is - Liliya's rain.
Liliya’s rain is a collection that catches this beauty. The collection is made by Anne-Mari Pahkala, a professional Designer Dressmaker. She has worked in historical atelier in Venice, Italy and with industry professionals in Finland and they have affected in creation of her own signature style of elegance, quality and structural craftsmanship with the natural and fresh elements of the North.

The glass jewellery is hand made by Joonas Laakso.
I just love her dresses and next time when I go to Finland, I know for sure which shop I will be visiting… Although on the other hand, you can also order the clothing also via e-mail annemaripahkala@gmail.com, so I maybe go for that option instead :)

If you want to see more from her, just head to her homepage by clicking this link.

Few posts back I was writing about the independence party that the Finnish president hosts every year and usually you can also see some dresses from Anne-Mari Pahkala in there too. I really like the cut of this yellow dress she made. Sorry no picture available due to copyrights of the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat.

Seems to be it is not raining at the moment, so heading out to the nice afternoon walk. Taking an umbrella with me, just in case… ;)

Cheers for now,
Sanna

Do you have sisters? If you do, do you have a good connection between you? I have two sisters, one older one and one younger one. We all live in different countries, but when needed we are there for each other.

When I was younger, and worked in the same office with my big sister, we sometimes wore same colour to the office, so people were asking if we call each other every morning to co-ordinate our clothing. Well, we didn’t, maybe it was just the part of the connection we have… ;)

Finnish fashion brand Muka va’s A/W 2013-14 collection is called “Sisterhood” and I just love the way the clothing shows the sisterhood connection…
My favourites? Well, I like most of them quite lot. I would even chance the shorts, which I don’t usually wear, as I really like the colour of them. So beautiful toffee brown J

What do you think about the shorts?

Cheers for now,
Sanna

The Friday 6th of December was Finland’s Independence Day. Finland got its independence 96 years ago, so you could say the country is still quite young. I know there are many traditions that Finnish people do on that day, but my tradition is to sit in front of the TV. Yeah, seriously! Every year the president of Finland keeps an independence party, which is televised.  And I’m glued to the TV to watch that…. And I know I’m not alone… The reason is when the party stars the president and his/hers other half will shake hand with everyone who has been invited to the party. Each of these handshakes are shown to the audience and that is the best moment to see what the guests are wearing :) The dresses, the accessories, suits…..

I collected some of the clothing that has been done by Finnish designer below. Unfortunately due to the copyrights I’m not posting the pictures themselves, but links to them.

Dress made by Mert Otsamo, the golden flowers are made from the Magnum ice-cream wrappers.

Beautiful light blue dress, my favourite, made by Design by Katri/n. Also this golden dress was  made by her.

Simple dresses are usually the most beautiful ones, this one was made by Laura Juslin.

Leather dresses usually looks good, and when it accessorised with golden belt, it looks just amazing. Done by Eija Randelin (link only in Finnish).

This jumpsuit makes a statement,  in a good way I think, designer Mr. Teemu Muurimäki.

And this one, the golden colour is nice as well as the back of it, but maybe then too see-through for my taste. Made by Elina Loueranta

And last but not least the dress of the wife of the president, designed by Sari Nordström. Simple and beautiful!

Dreaming of a fancy dress party….

When I buy clothing, what I try to do is to buy things that I could wear not only at work, but also after work, maybe for a nice afternoon tea or maybe for a drink. So clothing that is easy to transfer from daywear to an evening wear :) Of course shoes, bags and other accessories also plays a big role on this, as they really do help you to change the overall look from one to another… It is amazing what a really nice statement necklace can really do for your look…

Kativee says that their design was made for a woman who lives hectic life and is always on the move. So versatility and well fitted dresses are important to her. Well, my life may not be that hectic, but I do appreciate versatility and well fitted dresses (ask from my mom or my husband ;) ), which means I do like Kativee design :)

Below you can find some pictures from their clothing. More you can find from here.
The clothing has really interesting cut in them, I really like the geometrical shapes they have... I like the dress below, just another colour would be good as me and white does not really go so well together. Mainly because I'm really good of getting stains for my white clothes... ;)
What do you think about Kativee?

Cheers for now,
Sanna
